For the last two years Greenmount has lit Advent windows and it is planned to do this again with even more people joining in.
The switch on will be on the 1st December.
Please think of joining us. When you have decided on your design, please let Neil know by email [email protected] It is hoped to have a map showing where the windows are.
If your garden is decorated, please let Neil know that too
Please be aware that the Bury Running Festival takes place on the morning of Sunday 20th November. This year the route has moved from south of the town centre to the north, on roads through Elton, Walshaw, Tottington and Greenmount and the Kirklees Trail (The Lines).
Thousands of pounds are raised for good causes, and we are delighted that Greenmount is firmly on the sporting map as Bury shows itself off to hundreds of visitors on the day of the festival.
Attached are details of road closures and parking suspensions for that morning. Greenmount is affected with Holcombe Road closed in both directions from Market Street to Brandlesholme Road and Brandlesholme Road itself closed from the junction of Holcombe Road to Longsight Road. All road closures effective from 8:00am until 11:00am.
In addition, parking is suspended on the Village Green/Cricket Club side of Brandlesholme Road from 6pm on Saturday 19th November until 1pm on Sunday 20th November.
Emergency vehicles will be allowed through during this time. For anyone needing to make journeys on that morning or who have visitors, especially care visits, be aware of the closures.
Please make plans to avoid inconvenience and if you are competing or spectating, I hope you enjoy yourself.
John and I were delighted to visit the Tottington Co-op store on Saturday, to be presented with funding for GVC of over £3,000. This money will go towards our ongoing project to develop rest areas and seating on The Lines.
We were made very welcome are very grateful to the #itswhatwedo scheme, run locally by Eleanor, the Co-op Member Pioneer for Tottington and Holcombe Brook.
Thank you to everyone who responded to our campaign and signed up to donate to the cause. Our fundraising to support projects in our local community continues. If you are a Co-op shopper, please sign up to automatically donate to the vast array of causes supported by the group in our area.

Pets in Need perform a wonderful service for our community. They are organising a very important fund-raising event, a Xmas Fayre, to be held at Greenmount Old School on Sunday 13th November.
The plan is to meet up on Friday 28th October at 10am. It is a new meeting place for our group, at the far end Laurel Street, where the bus turning circle is. A map is attached.
We will be working on The Lines and surrounding area.
The weather forecast is not looking good again, for next Friday, so please check your email before you set out as we may well cancel the session due to poor weather.
