DOING OUR BEST: THE STORY OF GREENMOUNT SCOUT GROUP

Whether involved in Scouting or not, this interesting, illustrated book is well worth reading. It documents a significant period of development in the village of Greenmount and the tireless efforts of a small, dedicated group of people determined that the village should have its own Scout Group.

There is no doubt that much of the content will have greater meaning for those involved in this project, although its significance to the community as a whole is, perhaps, appreciated more when the objectives of the Scout movement are better understood. Its aim is to help young people, now girls as well as boys, from the age of six, to develop spiritually, mentally, physically and socially in a responsible way, in a controlled and safe environment. And the good news is that there is no upper age limit for members of the Scout movement!

This book gives an insight into the many, varied activities enjoyed by members of the Group, from the youngest Beaver to the volunteer Leaders and officials and the pleasure they all derived from them.

Copies of the book are given to all new Beavers joining the Group and are also available from Christine Taylor while stocks last.
