Bury MBC – Civic Buildings Consultation

Dear All

Bury Council operates three Civic Venues (Elizabethan Suite, Longfield Suite and Ramsbottom Civic Hall) all of which operate at a loss, and are also in need of significant financial investment in future years. Following a meeting of the Council’s Cabinet on 24th November 2020, closure of all three venues is proposed as an option, on a permanent basis, in order to generate ongoing savings, and to avoid the cost of future capital investment.

It is to be noted that a decision has not yet been made, or been pre-determined, have your say on these proposals here.

Drop-Off for egg boxes and carrier bags

Dear All,

Although many residents in Greenmount have been more than happy to help collect egg boxes and carrier bags for Brandlesholme Foodbank, some are unable to deliver them. As a result my husband and I have been collecting from residents or they have dropped them off at our home.

Nazia Haque Wealth Management on Holcombe  Road (the old post office), has kindly offered to become a ‘Drop Off Point’ for anyone wishing to leave carrier bags and egg boxes. Myself and my husband will collect them from here and drop them at the Foodbank on Brandlesholme Road on a regular basis.

There will be someone at Nazia’s office each day from 10am till 4pm if you are able to drop them off there. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you are unable to do this and I will collect them from you.

Thank you once again for your continued support for those in need.

With kind regards

Julie Southworth

Tower Family Healthcare – COVID Vaccination Progress

Dear All

Please find attached a message from Tower Family Healthcare regarding progress on the COVID vaccination programme.

Full updates can be found via Facebook https://www.facebook.com/towerfamilyhealthcare

Best Wishes

Julie Southworth

The attached chart is based on progress for our patients at Tower Family Healthcare, we have approximately 25% of the Bury population registered with our Practice. It represents patients who have either had their 1st vaccine or have an appointment for it.

As you may be aware there are four COVID vaccination sites across Bury at Prestwich Walk-in Centre, Elizabethan Suite and Bury Town Hall, Bealeys Community Hospital in Radcliffe, and Ramsbottom Civic Hall. These are being staffed by all the GP practices in Bury in an impressive joint effort and by many others, so colleagues from Community Pharmacies and a wide range of volunteers. Any patients from any practice can be booked into any of the sites.

The latest updates:

1) We have booked the majority of our patients mobile over 75s for an appointment – if you are registered with us, and mobile, and over 75 and not had an appointment then please phone us – 𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐚𝐟𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐨𝐨𝐧.

2) We are starting to book our 70-74 yr old mobile patients and patients between 18 and 69yrs old who are mobile and Clinically Extremely Vulnerable. 𝐏𝐋𝐄𝐀𝐒𝐄 𝐖𝐀𝐈𝐓 𝐓𝐎 𝐁𝐄 𝐂𝐀𝐋𝐋𝐄𝐃.

3) We continue to book 𝐅𝐈𝐑𝐒𝐓 𝐢𝐧𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐨𝐧𝐥𝐲 – second appointments will be sorted later

4) We await further supplies of the Oxford/Astra Zeneca to then be able to move to vaccinate housebound patients and the 16 and 17yr old clinically extremely vulnerable.

Please continue to be 𝐊𝐈𝐍𝐃 to each other and us. The positive feedback from Facebook and our askmyGP system means so much to us and helps us keep going through these difficult unique times.

Thank you

WANTED: Empty egg boxes, shopping bags!

We have had an urgent request from the food bank based at Brandlesholme Community Centre .  Not only are they requesting dried and tinned foods but they are desperately short of EMPTY egg boxes (either 6 or 12) and also good quality food bags for delivery, strong enough to hold several cans.  NOTE: they are not requesting eggs as they have a good, regular supply of fresh eggs.

The donated items can be left at the centre on any weekday morning from 9:30 until noon.  Alternatively if you cannot deliver please drop me a message and we can collect and take the items down for you.

All donated items including food is quarantined in a separate area for 72 hours prior to use in line with COVID procedure.

Thank you for your support

Best regards

Julie Southworth
